PLUNKET SOCIETY.
NEWLY FORMED PAEROA BRANCH MEETING ON MONDAY 7 LAST. ' A meeting of, the newly formed subbranch of the Plunket Society at Pae, roa was held in the Centenary Hall on Monday la.st. The committee was faced with the difficulty of providing a. suitable room, but that obstacle had now' been overcome. The trustees of the Methodist Church have consented tq alJLow the society to carry bn its work iii the Centenary Hall free of charge. ■ It was unanimously decided to have the nurse one day weekly, so tha.t Nurse Houghtojn will be; in attendance for the first time on. Friday, June 1. Her hours wi.1,1. be from 11 a.m. to 12.30, and from .1.30 to 5 p.m. The financial difficulties will have to be met, but the committee has no fear, and trusts tq the general cooperation and support of the people of this town. In order, to provide the necessary equipment for the convenience of the nur&e the committee decided to canvass the town for subscriptions immediafely, and to. hold a social in the Gaiety Theatre next m'oii/th. The officers of the- Plunket Society are. as follows : President, Mrs W. Marshall; 'Mrs C. N. O’Neill and Mrs G. S. Talbbys ; hon. treasurer, Mrs O. G. Thornton ; hon. secretary, Mrs E. A. Porr.itt; hon. auditor, Mr J. Wilkinson ; advisory board, Messrs: W. Marshall, C. N. O’Neill, aiid R. S. Car,den ; committee, Mesdames R. S. Carden, S. J. Hedge, E. P. Fathers, H. J. Hare, V. J. Inuies, and G. H. Taylor.
