TURUA. “CAIRO NIGHT” BALL. Following the. great success of itis “Cairo Night” Ball at Netherton recently, the Merry Syncopators’ Orchestra organised a sifhilar function in the Turua Town- Halil last Thursday evening. There were about 100 couples present, Nethqrton and Paeroa being particularly well represented. The hall was very effectively decorated with broad red: and white paper streamers, and the; stage, where* a nice sit-down supper was. served l , was similarly decorated. There was very Uttle competition foi; the prizes for fancy dresses, but the judges had a difficulty; in selecting the best Eastern costume/. Miss M. McGregor, Turua, was awarded the prize, and Miss I. Halligan, Netherton, was highly commended. The prizes for tihe best fancy dresses were awarded to Mis s i. McCormick (Gipsy) and Mr B. R. Duncan (Cowboy).
