CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE.

VISIT OF DOMINION PRESIDENT. SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT PAEROA Thursday was a red-letter, day in the history of the Paeroa branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, by reason of the visit of the. Dominion President, Mrs T. E. Taylor, of Christchuioh. Fresh from the en u thusism of the Dominion- Convention at Napier, Mrs Taylor has been visiting the branches on,the East Coast, and she 'has everywhere stimulatedinterest by her keen insight and in* tense devotion to the work of the movement.

The afternoon session, which was presided over by Mrs P. R. Hubbard (local president), was particularly for the members of. the Paeroa branch and other interested: ladies, and after an address by the Dominion President several new members wqre inducted. Afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the session. In the evening a public meeting was held, and was well attended. The chairman, Mr J. W. Cocks, of the New Zealand Alliance, paid tribute to the splendid services rendered throughout the world to national righteousness by tlie W.C.T.U. After the reading of -Scripture and prayer by the Rev. W. B. Pickering the Misses Cocks rendered a duet and -Mrs -Mitchell a oslo. The sominion President delivered an address ’of great power and appeal, and” was foillo,wed with the closest attention. A hearty vote of thanks, proposed by Lieutenant Leia (S-A.) and- seconded by -Mr T. C. Arnold, was accorded to Mrs Taylor.

At the close the secretary, Mrs Cocks, niade an appeal for new mere’ bers and there was a (satisfactory response, the Dominion President conducting the service of induction.
