The fall in the price of lamb, and the abundance of feed;, is inducing farmers in the Oamaru district to hold their lambs for a longer period than usual, with a view to securing increased weights (reports an exchange). Hence, the number being put through the Pukeuri works, is not as large as at this time last year. About 2000 per day are at present being slaughtered.
