TWO FARMERS INJURED

ACCIDENT AT WAITAKARURU. MISHAP WITH STUMP HAULER. Two Waitakaruru farmers, Mr C. Clark and Mr F. Barker, received serious injuries to their wrists in a mishap with a stump-hauling implement on the farm of Mr G. Francis, Canal Road, Waitakaruru, on Wednesday morning.

Both men were taken to the Thames Hospital for treatment, and an X-ray examination showed that Mr Barker’s, thumb had been broken and Mr Clark’s wrist injured and thumb splintered. The hands and arms of both men were badly cut. Mr Clark was able to return home, but Mr Barker was kept in hospital. The accident occurred when the me;n were endeavouring to slacken off the tension of the wire rope, and the injuries were caused by the whirling handle of the jack.
