SHOCKING ACT OF INMATE.

SYDNEY, Jan. 17

A shocking act was committed at the Rydalmere Mental Hospital in the early hours this morning, when a patient, Cecil Crouch, w.as strangled with a cord while he was in bed. Later in the day a blind inmate of the institution, Horace Suckling, was found suffering from severe cuts) on .his arm. He confessed that he had killed Crouch and then had tried to commit suicide by cutting his arms On a window pane, which lie broke for that purpose.
