PHENOMENAL COW.
HOLSTEIN AT KATIKATI.
EXTRAORDINARY FIGURES.
Here are some remarkable figures from the milking test of. Pansy, the Holstein cow owned and bred by Mr V. C. Patten, of Kauri Point, Katikati.
This cow, which has been 1 , milked twice a day, fed solely on grass, and milked by machine, yielded.during the month of. November 25201 b of milk, had a test of 4.1 for the whole month, and gave ,103.321 b of fat—certainly amazing figures when the best average figures for the same month supplied by the N.Z. Co-opera,tivq Herd Testing Association are from Manawaru, near Te Arolia, where ,10091 b °f milk and 41.191 b of fat'were the figures. The cow is one of a large 'herd, and. it is of. peculiar interest as the district where it is grazed is really n;ew country, though dairying is fast gaining a hold, there being approximately 60 'herds all told. It is undulating grass country where manuring and top-dressing is carried out.
