CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR PAEROA.

LABOUR DEPARTMENT APPROVES.

At a meeting of the executive of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce held on Monday the question of Christmas and New Year holidays to be observed locally was considered. It, was decided to submit to the Inspector °f Factories, Labour Department, Hamilton, the proposal to observe a half-holiday on the Wednesday before Christmas instead of, as usual, on Saturday, and observe Saturday, Christmas Eve. as a late night.

In the New Year week it was decided to make no alteration, in the usual shopping hours.

Yesterday the secretary of the Chamber of Commerce (Mr E. A. P°rritt) received a reply from the Labour Department advising that the proposal was in order. No further notification to the department was necessary from any individual shopkeeper provided he was falling into line with the arrangements as proposed.
