OBITUARY.
MRS. ADA ANN MANNING. Another link with the early days of Paeroa and the district was severed on Monday, November 21, by the death of Mrs Ada Ann Manning, at the residence of her daugher, Mrs F. Forsman, Peach Grove Road, Hamilton East.
Deceased was born in London. 71 years ago, and came out to New Zealand with her parents at an early age and resided at Auckland for many years. In the course of time she married the late Mr H. D. Manning at Christchurch, and with her husband settled at Paeroa spime 30-odd years ago. Mr Manning died and was interred at Paeroa about 19 yetars ago, but Mrs Manning remained in Paeroa until. about eight years ago, when she went to Hamilton to live with one; of her daughters, Mrs C. Taylor. During her long residence here Mrs Manning was very popular. In addition to being an ardent and loyal worker in Church of, England affairs, she also performed yeoman service as a nurse. Her willing services and helpful and practical advice were always available, and many people in the days gone by had reason to be grateful to Mrs Manning. No worthy cause or appeal flor help ever fell on deaf ears, and deceased was noted for her generosity and hospitality. Two sons of deceased were killed in action during the Great War. The late Mrs Manning had been a sufferer for nearly two years, and her death brought happy release from her sufferings, which were borne uncomplainingly, and with Christian fortitude.
Four daughters and three sons are left to mourn their loss, namely, Mesdames R. E. Emmett, Hamilton ; C. Taylor, Hamilton ; F. Forsman, Hamilton East; J. Roach, Te Aroha ; and Messrs Pierce and Harry Manning, of Auckland, and Cliff. Manning, of Wellington'. There is also a large number of grand-children. The deceased was interred at the Pukerimu Cemetery, Paeroa on Wednesday afternoon, the last solemn rites being performed, by the Rev. H. G. Sell, of St; Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton. The pall-bearers were four grandsons of the deceased, and the many beautiful floral emblems bore silent testimony to the love and respect in which she was held. There was also a number of the older settlers of Paeroa present at the graveside who went to pay their last respects to one whose life had beep spent in unselfish service to others.
