NGATEA. FOOTBALLERS’ BALL. The Patetonga Shield, the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union’s trophy for the junior grade inter-club competition, was presented by the president of the union, Mr H. Dent, to Mr A. Killgour, captain of the Ngatea Club’s junior team, at a ball in the Ngatea Hall last Wednesday evening. The dance was arranged by the Ngatea Club to wind up tthe season, and there was a good attendance, all parts of the district being represented. The music was by the Hauraki Orchestra. WAITAKARURU. GARDEN FETE. The funds of the Waitakaruru branch of the Plunket Society were considerably augmented as tihe result of a garden fete at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. Wylie last Tuesday evening. It was estimated that there were 200 people present. The grounds were, decorated, and as the raip experienced by the rest of the Plains was missed there was dancing on the lawn to music provided by Ludlow’s Orchestra and by wireless. Numerous competitions were organised to augment the funds, and as Mr J. Neate was in charge the function proved one of the most pleasant held in the district for a long time.
