AMERICAN SENSATION.
POSSESSION OF BEEIR. LIFE SENTENCE INFLICTED. NEW YORK, November 4. Leading newspapers ar© aroused over the appeal by counsel for Frederick Palm, who has already started a sentence of life imprisonment as the result of a fourth conviction for being in illegal possession of a pint of beer.
Of all America’s hard drinkers, Palm, who is only 30, is the first to have been caught four times, and the judge who tried him in Lansing Michigan) gave him a life sentence.
The carrying of liquor comes under the heading of felonies, according to Michigan State law. The amazing case will be carried to the United States Spprejme Court.
