Some of the staff were at work in thei bakehouse until nearly 8 p.m., hut were unaware of anything untoward happening. On his return Mr Leach found an empty leather bag, in which one of the carters carried his change when on a. delivery round, laying on the concrete in the backyard. Further investigations showed that entrance to the office, which is situated at the rear of the shop, had been gained by pushing open a window. The bag containing the money, which had been checked and handed to Mr Leach prior to his leaving the premises, was placed on a table in the office. So far as can be ascertained nothing else was disturbed.
