PAEROA ATHLETIC CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SPORTS. A meeting of the management committee of the Paeroa Athletic Club was held on Wednesday night, the chairman (Mr J. H. Walmsley) presiding over an attendance of seven members. After discussing various; matters in connection with the (holding of an athletic sports meeting at Paeroa on December 17, the following additions to the programme of events were decided on :—

Cycling: Five miles, prizes £.lO, £3, and £1 ; three miles, £6, £2 and £1 1 two miles, £5, £2, and £1; one mile, cap. 30s and 10s. Runnings : 120yds, Paeroa Handicap, £10; £2, £1 ; 22.0yds, £4, £l, 10s ; 440yds, £5, £l, 10s; 880yds, £5, £l, 10s ; one mile, £5, £2, £l. Jumping: High jump handicap, 30s and 10s ; hop, step, and jump handicap, .0s and 10s. . Highland Dancing : Highland fling, children, 7 to 10 years of age, gold and silver medals ; sword dance, children 10 to 14 years, gold and silver medals.

School Events: Relay race, for primary school boys under 14 years of age, 220yds laps ; the school to hold the A. M. Samuel Qjip for one year, and t.be members of the winning team to receive silver -medals. It was decided to provide trophies for the boys’ primary and high schools high jump handicap, 100yds primary schools’ handicap, under 15 years; 50yds, girls’ handicap, primary schools ; 400yds tyre race, boys and girls under 10 years. It was also decided to add. novelty events, basketball, and hockey girls’ race, and stepping the chain. Mr C. Morrison has been appointed official handicapper, and Mr D. S. Snow official referee.
