BOWLING.
LABOUR DAY TOURNAMENT.
FIXED PAIRS COMPETITION,
Local bowlers took a keen interest in the fixed pairs tournament played on the local green on Monday last (Labour Day). <
Unfortunately, during the morning the weather was most unfavourable, and it was not until nearly 11 a.m. that, the games commenced, and even then several adjournments were necessary before mid-day on account of heavy rain.
Eight pairs, took part in the competition, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the players. Seven games were played, two of eleven heads being completed before lunch. Owing to the number of games to be played, on resuming in the, afternoon it was decided that the remaining games should be of seven heads only. After Vn interesting contest it was found at the end of the day’s play that }¥• Smith and V. J. Innes (skip), and A. Steward and L. Gibb (skip) had gone through the competition with six wins each. Owing to tlie failing light it was necessary tp postpone the playing of the final game to decide th© winners until a later date'.
