NGATEA. CHURCH SOCIAL. A very enjoyable time was spent by about, 200 people in the Ngatea Hall on Wednesday evening, when one of the socials in aid of the Church of England building fund was held. Excellent music was provided by Mr Ludlow’s orchestra, and Mr J. Neate was M.C. There were 11 tables of euchre players, the winners of the tournament being Mrs Bertelsen and Mr H. Williams, with Miss D. Hayward and Mr G. Connell as the “boobies.” During the evening songs were contributed by Mr H. Davis, of Auckland, and Mr J. Neate. '

» TURUA. TENNIS CLUB’S. FETE. The Turua Tennis Club held its annual fete in the Town Hall last evening. There was a - small attendance during the afternpoon and a good crowd in the evening. Well-laden stalls were presided over by the following lady members of the club: Sweets and cakes, Mrs C. Scott and Mrs F. Clotworthy; produce, Mrs F. C. Robinson ; dips, Misses Madgwick and Bayliss; refreshments, Mrs Bell and Miss Mules. It appeared that the res-t of the members of the chib were running competitions or raffles. Among the prize-winners were the following: Quoits, G. Elvin ; nail-driving, H. Griffiths; ladies’ nail-driving, Miss I. Scott; bull-board. F. Olsen; cake, 81b 12oz (four tied), Mrs< J. H. Johnstone ; length of lath, lift, Mr W. White, 10ft 9%in; dol.l (woollen), No. 24, Mr J. H. Sloane ; sleeping doll, No. 101, E. Heasman; tray. No. 109, E. Mills; mechanical model, No. 11, Mr J. McConnell; No : 1 doyley, No. 21, D. W. Buckthought; No. 2 doyley, No, 10, JI Charteris ; No. 3 doyley. No. 57, B. Miller ; No. 1 cushion, No. 90, K. Oosson ; No. 2 cushion. No. 30, W. Rogers; No. 3 cushion, No. 33, M. Madgwick ; No. 1 tablet-centre, No. 17, H. Spencer; No. 2 table-centre, No. 29, E. Mills ; No. 3 table-centre No. 26,’ A. McConnell. As a result of the evening’s function the club will be about £6O richer.
