THAMES HOSPITAL.

MEETING OF BOARD. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. The Thames Hospital Board met bn Monday, the chairman (Mr AV. E. Hale) presiding over the following : Messrs E. L. Walton, C. W. Flett, C. Parfitt. C. Kennedy, A. R. Robinson, J. Lange, J. W. Danby, and the secretary (Mr G. Tonge). THANKS. Two letters of appreciation of services. of the nursing staff were thankfuilly acknowledged from ex-patients. RESIGNATION. Nurse Vance tendered her resignation from the nursing staff, in view of her approaching marriage. REPORTS. The medical superintendent, Dr. W. Sowerby, reported 78 admi.ssinos.during the past month in addition to 74 patients in the wards at the date of last month’s return. Seventy-five patients remained for treatment. There had been four deaths and 42 operations. Matron K. M. Ansennq reported the resignations of Sister Pearce and Nurse Vance. The Patetonga district nurse reported 14 attendances for a return of £2 in fees. The nurse to Natives (Nurse Jarrett) reported visits to 14 pas, involving attendance on 35 Natives in addition to attention to 13 Europeans; TENDERS. On the motion of Mr Walton it was decided that in future all building and alteration works be let by public tender unless specifically ordered by the board. HOSPITAL REQUIREMENTS. Messrs Hale and Danby had visited the hospital for the purpose of ascertaining the essential building alterations and requirements. These included the purchase of an ice-chest, renovation of offices, surgery, kitchen, etc., new furniture for the wards, and the X-ray plant also required attention. It was resolved to install an icechest. and Messrs Danby and Hale were deputed to report on ways and means of giving effect to other essential works.
