PAEROA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The regular meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held at Mr W. Bain’s rooms last night, the chairman (Mr C. T. Mettam) presiding over Messrs H. M. Shand, J. Pindei C. H. Potter, E. P. Fathers, and R. Hodson (secretary). THIRD GRADE MATCH. A letter was received from the Waihi Union asking for a ma.tch for their third-grade team to be played at Paeroa on Saturday next as, a cur-tain-raiser to the Waihi-Paeroa senior match. • ■ It was decided to accede to the request, and that the match commence at l.l’o p.m. Mr F. T. V. Johnson was appointed referee. MATCH WITH THAMES. On the motion of Mr Pinder, seconded by Mr Fathers, it was resolved that the seniors play the return match with Thames a.t Thames on September 10, as requested. The secretary stated that he had been in touch with the president of the Thames Valley Union, and an expression of opinion was given that the match would not affect the Thames, Valley v. Waikato match to be played 'lit Te Aroha on the same date. DRYSDALE CUP. ' It was decided that th& Drysdale Cup competition commence on September 3, and that the first round be drawn on August 29. TEAMS ENTERED. The City and Veterans clubs submitted names for registration. With the exception of three names on the Veterans; Club’s list the registrations were accepted. A set of green jerseys was also loaned to the Veterans team. DISQUALIFICATION LIFTED. A notice of motion given by Mr Potter on August 15 to the effect that the minute on the books disqualifying G. Morrow and L. Potter be lifted, was formally moved, and seconded by Mr Fathers.

After a lengthy discussion the motion was carried. It was then resolved that the disqualifications be lifted as from that night, August 23. USE OF HOCKEY GROUND. A letter was received from the- Rev. W. G. H. Weiidon protesting at the actioir of the union in taking the hockey ground for a football match on Saturday last. The secretary was instructed to wiite placing the correct position before. Mr Weadon, and advise him that the chairman of the Domain Committee (Mr P. E. Brenan), Messrs Mettam and Shand, and, if possible, the president of the Thames Valley Rugby Union (Mr J. W. Silcock), would meet him on Thursday next, whe-n it was hoped finality in the matter would be reached. MANAGERS APPOINTED. Mr Shapd was appointed manager of the Paeroa senior team to . play Waihi at Paeroa on Saturday next; Mr H. Robinson manager of the junior team to play at Waihi; and Mr J. M. Crosby selector and manager of the third-grade team to play Waihi at Paeroa. • DONATION OF CUP.

A local shopkeeper advised that he was prepared to donate a cup for competition under such rules and conditions as the union thought fit. The donor was thanked for his offer, and the chairman was deputed to wait on him and discuss the matter.

PAEROA THIRD GRADE TEAM. The following third-grade team has been selected to play against Waihi at Paeroa on Saturday, commencing at 1.45 p.m.:—

Full-back, J. Verran ; three-quar-ters; K. Wilson, M. Rackharif M. Irwin ; five-eighths, L. Masters, G. Tressider ; half-back, V. Barakat; rover, P. Poland ; forwards, J. Morland, C. Chisholm, L. Marshall, F. Johnson, B. Miller, R. Alpe, E. Vercoe. Emergencies : P. Grant, J. Silcock, F. Dare.
