ST. PAUL’S CHURCH EFFORT.

WEATHER MARS ATTENDANCE.

The dance and euchre tournament ■organised by St. Paul’s Church, Paero<], anil held at the Gaiety Theatrelast night proved a most enjoyable function. Unfortunately the early part of the night was very wet, and this, no doubt, kept many people-from attending. However, despite, the weather there was a good attendance, including visitors from Netherton, Hikutaia, and Whaiepoa, and those who did’ brave- the elements were amply rewarded. The function was well organised and carried out capably, the smooth running adding to the enjoyment of the evening. The dance floor was in good condition, and the Hauraki Orchestra, by means of its rhythmical and refreshing music, made dancing a pleasure. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands of Mr E. Edwards, and he' saw to it that there were no dull moments for the dancers. The euchre tournament, -which was held on the stage under the supervision of Mr W. J. Towers, attracted 64 players. Novel prizes, as. well as six handsome prizes of equal value, were offered for competition.

During the supper adjournment the Rev. Weadon (vicar) took the opportunity of thanking all those who had attended, and especially the indefatigable workers who had given much time and thought to making the function a success. The vica.r also sincerely thanked the donors of the enchre prizes, which were distributed as follows: Ladies, Mrs Perenlki 1, Mrs R. L. Miller 2,’ Mrs Tressider 3; men, Messrs F. Morrow 1, W. J.
