SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICE

THE PLAINS CLINIC. SMALL CHANCE OF CONTINUATION The Hauraki Plains school dental cl.ijiic at Ngatea has been closed since before Christmas, and no indication has been received as to when it will be reopened, and no representations to have it reopened have been made. In view of the demand from all over the Dominion for the establishment of school dental clinics, and the inability of the Health Department to grant the requests owing to a lack of dental nurses, it seems probable that the department w ill not worry about continuing the service at Ngatea, particularly while the people of the district are not making representations on the matter.

It appears that the only hope of the clinic being reopened is that when a nurse is appointed to the clinic now under construction at Paeroa, she will be able to work the Plains as an out-station when she has completed the Paeroa district. There is no chance whatever of Mr F. Gi Stockwell being, appointed, as he has resigned from the service of the department to take up private practice. The administration of the Plains clinic is in the hands of a committee comprising the chairman and a member of each of the schools in the district.
