ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES.

TO-NIGHT.

SO’S YOUR OLD MAN

“Sos Your Old Man,” the principal attraction for to-night, is a screaming farce of a small town man who goes into the big world to sell an invention, fails, returns in disgrace, and then, through an amazingly funnyseries of events, becomes the financial and social lion of the hour.

SATURDAY NIGHT.

SYNCOPATING SUE,

“Syncopating Sue,” to be presented to-morroow night, is the tale of a piano-playing spng-plugger in NewYork’s Tin Pan Alley whose main interests in life are her dreams of a stage career, and her romance with a cabaret trap drummer, who is made a lovable screen character by the ■charming performance of Tom Moore, who has the lead opposite the star. THE FOOLISH VIRGIN.

A young girl lost in the underworld of a big city, open to many dangers among thieves and men of brutal passion, rises out of the mire clean and wholesome and escapes the doom that awaits many who make a fatal move. This is the theme presented in “The Foolish Virgin,” which is also to be shown to-morrow night. TURUA PICTURES. SATURDAY, MAY 21. In the picture “It’s the Old Army Game,” to be screened at the Turua Hall to-morrow, is the real type of comedian in W. C. Fields. This, his first picture, is an exceptional entertainment. TUESDAY, MAY 24.

To be screened on Tuesday is the famous stage play success, “What Happened to Jones,” featuring Reginald Denny.

ODDFELLOWS BALL.

THURSDAY, MAY 26.

No flourish of trumpets is required to ensure the popularity of the Paeroa Oddfellows fourth annual Grand Ball, to be held in the Gaiety Theatre on Thursday, May 26, 1927. The forerunners of “1927’s special effort” have established the Paeroa Oddfellows Ball as a function second t 6 none in the district. • Keen interest is being shown over a wide area, and a record grand ball is expected. The Oddfellows have been fortunate in securing the services of Reg. Cooke, whose skill and popularity as a dance orchestra pianist is undisputed. In combination with Pickford’s Paeroa Players Reg. Cooke should prove a wonderful draw. The supper, a. part of previous functions always termed first-class, will again receive special attention. # The committee is confident that the 1927 Grand Ball will surpass in every way the popular functions of the Paeroa Oddfellows.
