PARKING OF CARS.
* TROUBLE AT NGATEA. PARKING PLACE ESTABLISHED. The Hauraki Plains Council’s inspector, Mr R. H. Cameron, reported that during April one building permit had been granted, three taxi licenses, four goods-cart licenses, and six heavy traffic licenses 'had. been issued. ■ Judgment had been obtained in all the cases of motorists charged with speeding. The inspector drew attention to the parking of cars in front of tlie Ngatea post office and the council office, and suggested that notices be exhibited prohibiting the parking of cars. The Ngatea postmaster wrote drawing attention to the extensive use made of the space in front of the post office- for the parking of motorcars. On Friday and Saturday evenings of each week it was almost impossible to obtain a passage to the posting boxes or private-box lobbyThe noise created when the cars left after tho pictures or the dances created a nuisance.
In reply to Cr. Harris the chairman said that the council had power to prohibit the parking, as the road extended to the post office frontage. He did not think notices would be sufficient—the inspector should give the matter personal attention. Cr. Harris advocated setting aside a place for parking and advertising it as such.
Cr. Walton said there was ample room near the School for the parking of cars. He moved that the matter be referred to the inspector for attention.
