KEREPEEHI.
—— SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCERT. The Kerepeehi Sunday School held its annual concert and prize-giving ceremony in the Kerepeehi Hall on Friday evening last. The, entertainment was organised by Mrs Taylor, in conjunction with the superintendent, Mr H. Booth, Mrs Booth, and other teachers, and was very creditable, each item being deservedly encored. Opening with a pianoforte solo by Miss Rana Taylor, there followed songs or recitations by Victor Booth, Jackie Mj.ddleton, Gertie Thompson, Evelyn Hegh, June Price, Cecily Hegh, Billy O’Loughlin, Trevor Carr, Dorothy and Victor Booth, Myrtle Courtney, and Masters Hoff, Taylor, and Carr. There were also several numbers in —which all the pupils of the school took part. The vicar of Hauraki Plains, the Rev. W. W. Averill, congratulated the children on the excellent concert they had rendered, and thanked Mrs Taylor and Mrs Booth for their work in organising it. Referring to the work of the Sunday SchooL he said that it was growing year by year, .and the. keenness was well maintained. The thanks of the people of the district were due to those who gave their time every Sunday for the instruction oof the children in the Christian faith. The prizes won by the pupils of the school for attendance or lessons were then presented. Books were presented to Daisy Hislop, Dorothy Booth, June Price, Edna Thompson, Audrey Booth, Dorothy Courtney, Ivy McCutcheon, Myrtle Courtney, Marjory Shilton, Thelma Taylor, Betty Smith, Katie Smith, Rosalyn Smith, Gertie Thompson, Jean Thompson, Mary Rima, Hazel Courtney, June Strong, Roma Booth, Betty Smith, Joan Smith, and Nancy Smith. Of the boys, the prizewinners included Trevor Carr, Jack Middleton, Royce Carr, Victor Booth, Willie Thompson, John Rima. John Smith, Jack Hoff, Keith Hoff, George Gibb, Arthur Taylor, Gordon Shilton, Reg. McCutcheon, Ernest Shilton, and James Rima. Supper was served to the children, and there was then a short dance. CHURCH SOCIALS. The members of the Kerepeehi Church of England intend holding a series of progressive enchre tournaments during the winter months with the purpose of raising funds for church purposes. The tournaments will be held fortnightly, and once a month there will also be a dance. Prizes "will be given, for the, winners each evening, and there will be a prize for the greatest number of games won during the season. A tournament was held last Monday evening, but owing to the small attendance. it was decided not to include it in the series for the season. The prizes were, won by Mrs J. Adlum and Mr J. Evans, while Mrs J. Reddy and Mr G. Crisp wore awarded consolation prizes.
