B GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. TITLE WON BY C. HOLES. Although the season is fast drawing to a close, there was a fair attendance of members on the local bowling green on Saturday. Mixed fours were arranged, and the members enjoyed a friendly roll-up. Considerable interest centred in the final game for the B grade singles championship, which was fought out between J. Wilkinson and C. Holes, the latter eventually winning by four points after a strenuous game-. By the time the third head was reached Wilkinson had put on five points, while his opponent had not scored. On the fourth head, however, Holes gained a three. On the eighth head the- scores were B—68 —6 in favour of Wilkinson, who lay four up on the next head, which gave him a lead of 6 points. By steady play in the following heads Holes scored 8 points to Wilkinson’s 3, but on the 17th head the latter increased his lead to 3. In the following four heads Wilkinson lost his dash and failed to score a point, while Holes piled on 7 and ran out a winner the final scores being 21 to 17.

Holes, who is a young player of promise, was the recipient of hearty congratulations from the onlookers.

For two consecutive seasons Wilkinson has bee.n the runner-up in this particular competition.
