PROGRESS DURING APRIL.

ENGINEER’S REPORT,

Included in the engineer’s report for tlie month submitted to yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Borad was the following: "Kaihere,-patetonga.—Pole erection of the main line is now complete up to the transformer position at Kaihere. The whole of the peat on this section lias been passed through, and difficulty has been experienced so far with only three poles, which it is intended to shift a short distance to better ground. “Another peat section is on Hangawhero Road. Poles have been distributed here and erection has started. When this has been completed it should allow tlie work to be carried on to Patetonga without serious trouble. Wiring will be started w'hon pole, erection to Mangawhero Road is finished, and the sections will be made alive as they are completed. “Kerepeehi Sub-station.—The. 11.000 volt extension on Pekapeka Road has been completed, allowing supply to be given to the Kerepeehi tpwnship by this route. The short deviation at the- Kerepeehi-Ngatea corner, has also been put into service. These two pieces of work allow of the construction of the sub-station and the alteration to our own lines being carried out with everything “dead.” All poles are now on the job, including those for the Public Works Department, and erection is proceeding.

“Puke Stop-bank Road.—This work was completed on April 9 and all consumers given supply. “Waitawheta.—This work is still held up pending the. receipt of all consumers’ deposits. “General.—A short low tension extension has been erected on Hamilton’s Road, Turua. Services, Post and Telegraph crossings, and maintenance work generally have kept the maintenance gang very fully employed during the month.
