BOWLING.

SUCCESSFUL EASTER TOURNEY. PAIRS COMPETITION. A successful progressive pairs tournament was held by the members of the local bowling club during Easter. Commencing on Friday morning in perfect weather six rinks entered for the competition. The greens were in good playing condition, and an enjoyable day was spent. On Easter Monday the tournament was continued, and again good weather, prevailed, but only five rinks took part. Trophies were provided for the winning skips and leads each day. At the conclusion of play pn Good Friday it was found that G. H. Taylor, F. Marsh, T. H. Hale, W. J. Towers, W. H. Taylor, L. C. Cane, C. Clews, and W. Hamilton had registered three wins each and two losses. As time. di,d not permit of a play-off the total number of points scored was considered and the trophy awarded accordingly. The winner proved to be F. Marsh, with 79 points. W. H. Taylor (73) and G. H. Taylor (65) were second and third respectively. Among the leads the competition was very keen, and at the end of the day V. J. Innes, with five wins and no losses, won the competition outright. C. Holes with four wins (60 points), and R. Lowry four wins (53 points) were second and third respectively. , PLAY ON EASTER MONDAY.

At the. conclusion of play on Easter Monday in the skips’ division it was found that F. Marsh and W. Purdie had four, wins each and one loss. Once again ft was necessary to total the points, the decision this time going in favour of W. Purdie, 67 points. Marsh scored 59 points. In the leads’ division R. E. Thorp won outright with five wins to his credit. W. Smith. W. L. Gibb, and C. Holes each had three, wins, but on the aggregate W. Smith gained second place with 45 points. Gibbs scored 44 points and Holes 35 points. MATCH WITH TE AROHA. On Saturday next a return interclub match will be played with Te Aroha at Paeroa. Eight rinks will be required, and players are requested to enter their names on the list at the pavilion as early as possible.
