KEREPEEHI ROADS.
OBJECTION OF BIDING SBTTLEBS. BASIS OF AGREEMENT. At yesterday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council .the chairman (Cr. E. L. Walton) reported on the basis of agreement with the section of Kerepeehi riding special rating area settlers who had petitioned for an inquiry into the £7675 reading lean authorised. Cr. Fisher and he had met the settlers in conference, and an amicable agreement between all parties had been reached. The agreement provided: (1) “The council undertakes not to spend more than £lOOO out of the loan on the Kaikathu Road item of £3306. (2) The council undertakes to pay the first year’s interest and sinking fund by way off special rate, and not out bf the loan. (3) The council undertakes that the special rate to be levied for. the loan will not exceed one penny in the £ on the present valuation or its equivalent on a revaluation. (4) The petitioners therefore undertake to withdraw their petition to the Court against the carrying of the loan. (5) That each party will pay its Own costs of the petition.” The memorandum was signed by Messrs D. Shilton, G. Sarjant, C. T. B. Smith, J. Hamill, C. Fawcett, J. M. Thompson, H. Innis, A. E. Hunter, A. J. Young, apd R. L. Davies, while the council decided that it be signed and sealed in the presence of Messrs Walton and Miller.
