LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH.

TE AROHA A V. PAEROA.

The second matches of the third round of t,he Piako Cricket Association’s competition were commenced °n Saturday last, Morrinsville playing Karangahake at Morrinsville, Waitoa v. Te Aroha B at Waitpa, and Paeroa v. Te Aroha A at Paeroa. The local team was defeated in first innings by 16 runs. Making a ’ bad start, the local team lost, three wickets f;’r eight runs, but sound batting by Stack, Wilson, and Edwards and bad fielding behind the wickets contributed largely to the 104 runs which were made liefoie the innings closed. Te Aroha also commenced badly, losing three wickets for 10 runs, but the fin > hatting of Boyd, Collins, Houghtun, Gemmell, and Woods put the visitors in the lead, the innings closing for 120 runs. Jamieson was in great form with the ball for Te Aroha, and Wilson was the best of the local bowlers. On account of the Te Aroha races next Saturday all matches will be postponed until March 5.
