BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL MEETING. | RESOLUTIONS PASSED. At the special meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council on Wednesday night the following special resolutions were passed:— WATER IMPROVEMENT LOAN. The Mayor moved, and Cr. Hare seconded, "That the Paeroa Borough Council hereby resolves by way of special order to pay out of the general fund the interest and sinking fund on the first instalment Of £2OOO of tne water improvement loan.” —Carried. COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOAN. The Mayor also moved : “That the Paeroa Borough Council pay out of the general fund the interest and sinking fund an the Council Chambers loan.” Cr. Hare seconded. Cr. Brenan said that he could not support the proposal, as he considered the loan should stand on its merits and the rate be collected. The Mayor replied that when the loan was placed before the ratepayers the council by a majority undertook that, the rate, would not be collected, and he thought that the ratepayers would not wish the additional rate in this connection. The resolution was carried, Crs. Brenan, Flatt, and Edwards voting against it and asking that their votes be recorded. STATION ROAD CORNER. A further resolution, moved by the Mayor and seconded by Cr. Porritt, was: “That Station Road in the Borough of Paeroa be widened at its junction with Belmont Road by the addition thereto of, firstly, 16-100tns perches, being part o'f lot 8 on D.P. 1249 Te Arero-Huatata No. 2 block (registered proprietor E. E. McLiver), and, secondly, an' easement for streat purposes over 17-10 l oths perches, being part of lot 1 on D.P. 1576 Te Arero-Huatata No. 2 block (easement to be granted by K. R. Rasmussen).” The resolution was carried. CRITERION BRIDGE LOAN. Pertaining to the Criterion Traffic Bridge loan, the following resolution was moved by the Mayor and carried : “For the purpose of providing the Paeroa Borough Council’s share of the cost of constructing a bridge over the Ohinemuri River at Paeroa. known as ‘The Criterion Traffic Bridge,’ the Paeroa Borough Council hereby authorises the raising Of a loan of £lBOO at six per centum per annum for a period of 36% years, and declares that the cost of raising the said loan and the first year’s interest and sinking fund on the loan shall be payable out of the moneys, so raised.”
