A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

THE HAURAKI PLAINS BODY.

GENERAL MEETING.

A general meeting of members of the-Hauraki Plains Agricultural and Pastoral Association was called to be held in the Kerepeehi Hall oni Friday evening last, but only five members and the hon. secretary were present. Howevei' it was agreed to put through the business, which was urgent.

THE LIABILITY. , A letter was received from Miller and Son and Poulgrain, Thames, in regard to the mortgage on the 'showground held by the Roman Catholic Church. In reply te the suggestion of the association ,hat the principal sum of the mortgage be reduced,, it was pointed out that as the loan was made out o.f church funds no reduction could be made. The lawyers suggested that the association should call a general meeting of members immediately, so as to arrive at a definite decision without further delay, as the matter could not be held in abeyance very much longer. A Member: They are not the. ones waiting for their interest.

Another Member: Not 'from the Plains, anyhow. The secretary reported that the member appointed had interviewed the financial institution, as instructed, and had been asked for full particulars of the affairs of the association before the institution considered taking over the existing liabilities. In reply to Mr A- Fisher the secretary stated that the showground, was leased for £63 a year, but with a small expenditure its- annual value would be greatly increased. Mr Jamieson suggested that in view df the chance, o'f something eventuating from the financial institution the lawyers should be asked to endeavour ter get their clients to grant an extention of time before! exercising their rights under, the mortgage.

A motion te that effect was seconded by Mr W. E. Chick and carried. The secretary reported that as yet he had not communicated with all the creditors, as i) was a very long job to make copies of the, balancesheet, etc., and the president had refused to sign a cheque with which to pay a typist for making copies. The meeting closed with a vote o'f thanks to Mr Innis tfor the use of thq hall.
