SEVERAL TRANSFERS GRANTED.
ANOTHER LICENSE FOR WAIHI.
An adjourned sitting of the Ohinemuri Licensing Committee was held at Paeroa this morning, Mr F. W. Plajtts, S.M., presiding over Messrs W. J. Towers, W. Marshall, P. E. Brenan, W. M. Wallnutt, and F. W. Walters,
STERLING HOTEL, WAIHI. The application of Mrs -Medora Stevens, widow, for the issue of a publican’s license with respect to premises to be known as' the. Sterling Hotel, at Waihi was. proceeded with. Mr. J. McVeagh appeared for the applicant. - The, application was granted forthwith. COMMERCIAL HOTEL, WAIHI. Sydney Robert Jago applied 'for the transfer of the license of the Commercial Hotel, Waihi, from H. D. N. Hazard, the present holder, to himself. The chairman said that the three months had not yet expired. w Mr E. J. Clendon, who appeared for the applicant, said that- the applich r tion could be made effectual as from Tuesday, and the transfer was, granted accordingly. KEREPEEHI HOTEL. J. Molloy, licensee of the Kerepeehi Hotel, applied for. a transfer of his license to Frank Rogers. The chairman sajd that the committee wished to record its views that there was a precipitate trafficking in licenses in the Ohinemuri district. The transfers could not be held up on that account, but it was hoped that future applicants would take note of the committee’s views. The transfer was granted. CRITERION HOTEL. Mr L. E. Oassrels applied for the transfer of his license for the Criterion Hotel‘'io. Henry Charles Bowden. Mr E. A. Porritt appeared in support of the application, and stated that Bowden was in possession o'f the premises, and had complied with the Licensing Act. In reply to Mr Brenan Mr Porritt said that although Bowden was single Miss O. S. Cassrels, a; part-owner of the premises, would be residing at the hotel and would take an active part in the management of the hotel. The application was granted. ROYAL MAIL, PAEROA. On behalf of Mrs C. V. Crosby Mr A. T. Jones applied for an adjournment of the issue of a license for the premises in course of ejection at Paeroa to be known as the Royal Mail Hotel. The reason for ah adjournment being sought for one month was because the premises were not yet completed. An adjournment was granted until January 20, 1927.
