The bitumen-bound 'ro'ads about Turua are now receiving top-dressing. This is in conformity with the best practice. On Piako Road in the Town Board’s district there’ are several spots where the bitumen has; failed to hold the metal together. Employees of the board are cleaning out the holes and re-laying the road with special bitumen designed tor the purpose. The faults are undoubtedly due to poor workmanship. Possibly insufficient bitumen was used, but it would appear as though the bitumen was spoiled by too much boiling. The Town Board has secured three barrels of bitumen, and that left over when the patching is completed will be used to top-dress, portion of the rest of the road. It is also- intended to secure some tar, as it is thought that tar will penetrate deeper and also provide a clean surface to which bitumen will adhere well. The council is, topdressing the Orongo-Turua road.
