PEDESTRIAN INJURED.

ACCIDENT ON PUKE ROAD. * RUN DOWN BY RIDER. An unusual accident happened on the Puke Road near Mr Whitmore’s property on Saturday evening. It appears that a middle-aged ma>n named Thomas Crosby was, walking along the road towiafids the Puke when a rider on horseback named Fred. Jackson, a farm labourer, employed at Netherton, collided with him and knocked him down on the roadside.

Mn Crosby, who sustained facial injuries and bruises, and suffered from shock, was promptly attended to by Dr. Little; and was later conveyed to the residence of his nephew, Mr Matt. Crosby, on the Waihi Road. The accident, which occurred about 6.30' p.m., seems, unaccountable, as there was little traffic on that portion of the road at the time and the visi-' bility was good.
