LABOUR DAY MATCH.

PAEROA DEFEATS TE AROHA.

On Monday last (Labour Day) the Paero’a Cricket Club opened its season a.t the local domain by playing a friendly match with the Te Aroha club. . Tho outfield was in fair playing condition, but the actual pitch, although covered by matting, "as rather rough and bumpy. The match, which was a single innings one, was won cdmfortably by the local eleven by 38 runs. Following are the details :—

Total 53 Bowling Analysis.—Edwajds took 9 wickets for 27 runs; Fox, 1 for 7; Shand, 1 for 14. TO-MORROW’S MATCH.

The annual competition under the auspices of the Piako Cricket Association will Commence to-morrow. The fixture set down for Paeroa is a match against the Karangahake team, to be played a.t thei Mapkaytown Domain. The local eleven will be selected from the following :— G. Stack, J. M. Fox, H. M. Shand, C. Rolton, T. Edwards, W. Taylor, S. Samsoln, C. Oakes, H. Mitchell, F. Davies; J. Goonan, F. W. Pivo.tt, J. Verran, H. Tams, C. McQuillan, T. D. Rice, A. Jenkinson.

The team will leave Paero'a at one o’clock sharp.
