ARRANGEMENTS FOR SATURDAY. BANNER GAMES & JUNIOR REPS. On Saturday the Paeroa Rugby Union’s banner competition commences, the first bound arrangements being East v. West at Paeroa and Nethei'ton v. Suburbs at Hikutaja. The following will represent West : K. Dean, J. Verran, R. Swann, G. Wells, L. Nield, W. Taylor, L. Masters, M. Poland, H. McKee, E. Neil, R. Shaw, H. Shaw, V. Carrick, T. Dawson, T. Green. Emergency, T. Fennell. JUNIOR GAME. Also on Saturday there will be a junior representative match between Paeroa and Matamata on the local domain, the Paeroa team being as follows :— R. Rare, L. Potter, J. Rackham, E. Potter, H. Moore, J. Conolly, R Mead, C. Vincent, J. Lee, A. Nelson, W. Pennell, N. Neil, T. Lavatit, W. Hargreaves, M. Brown. Emergencies : W. Leach (back), E. McLeod (forward). The above players are requested to be at the dressing-shed by 1.45 p.m. for the purpose of having their photographs taken. PRIMARY SCHOOL GAME. The Paeroa A primary school team will play Netherton, a.t Netherton, the match commencing at 10.30' a.m., on Saturday. RAILWAY V. POWER BOARD. ANNUAL DISTRICT MATCH. An annual football fixture which should be of interest in the Thames Valley district has been formulated and is expected to commence, this season. It is a match between the-pick of the Thames Valley Power Board employees and a fifteen selected from rajway men of the- Rotorua, Thames, and Waihi sections. . Te. Aroha Rugby supporters who are connected with these two services first started the movement, and Mr R. Sprague-, manager of the Power Board, has donated a shield for competition.
The arrangements decided on are that annual matches will be played at Te Aroha and Paeroa alternately, the first at Te Aroha, and the Piako Rugby Union and the Paeroa Rugby Union will have sole coutrpl of the matches played in thejr respective centres. Tickets will be on sale prior to the fixtures, and the proceeds are to be used by the unions for charitable purposes In the Te Aroha and Paeroa districts.
Apart from the generous financial arrangements made, these matches should receive general support as good football will no doubt be witnessed. In this year’s ga ; me, at all events, many of the outstanding players of the Thames Valley representative team will be included in the Power Board fifteen, and th'q Railway selection will embrace a number of prominent Waikato representatives.
