TE PONO MANGATAWHIRI TROUPE
As a means of raising funds for the purpose of. buiding and maintaining a home for orphan Maori children a clever troupe of young Maori people, known as Te Pono Mahgatawhlri, troupe, made its- appearance at the Druids’ Hall last night. This talented troupe, which has earned a good reputation throughout South-Auck-land, was well received by the large audience last night. The various da.nces were cleverly executed in full native costume, and bare feet, and the music contributed by the ten members of the orchestra was both unique and enchanting. A long string Poi dance, by eight Maori maidens- led by Miss Pa Pi Tawhiac), was very good, the clever twisting of the wrists and elbows giving ample proof of their skill in the art. The war-canoe dance, led by Miss Rangitaua Tapara, was equally graceful and clever, and drew rounds of .appause. A character dance by little Miss Mita won the admiration of the audience.
