DISTRICT NEWS.

NGATEA, PRESENTATION TO SCHOOLBOY. A happy function took place in the Ngatea School on Wednesday Afternoon, when the gold medal, presented by Mr W. Clark for the most impiloved and best-behaved player in the football team was handed over by Mr J. Gribble to the winner. The gathering was presided over by Mr F. G. Stockwell, who briefly outlined the object in presenting the medal, following his remarks by a criticism of the season’s, play. The chairipan then asked the judge, to make the presentation. After a few well-chofeen wordsi Mr Gribble cajiled upon Victor Macpherson to come forward. Tremendous applause greeted this announcement. When peace was restored Mr Gribble, after a very happy speech, expressing the hope that some day Macpherson might wear the ‘Silver Fern,’ handed over the medal.

Appreciative references, were made by the headmaster to the the trouble the judge had taken in making the selection and following the movements Of the team, and also to’ they work of Mr Stockwell, who had acted as coach for the team and was in a great measure responsible for the success which had been achieved. \
