HERD TESTING.

AVERAGES FOR 1925-2 G SEASON.

DISTRICT COMPARISONS. A detailed return of the group averages for the 1925-26 season has, been prepared by the N.Z. Co-operative Herd-testing Association. The association now has 56,010 cows under test, the average production of which was 232.021 b of fat in 244 days. The highest cow gave 647.901 b of fat in 2.99 days, while the lowest cow produced only 3.5.94i1b of fat in 188 days. The following averages are shown for groups in this district:— Netherton, group of 25 herds totalling 1357 cows. —The highest herd of 31 cows averaged. 284.931 b of fat; the lowest herd df 95 cows, averaged 148.791 b of fat. The highest*3OW gave 456.041 b of fat in 247 days, and the lowest cow 85.121 b of fat in 197 days.

Ngafea, group of 7 herds, totalling 4144 cows.—The highest herd, SO cOKvs., averaged 243.671 b fat; the lowest herd, 101 cows-, 146.011 b fat. The highest 'cow gave 398.071 b fat in 283 days,and the lowest cow 97.601 b fat in 202 days.

Shelly Beach, group of 28 he.rds, totalling 1384 cows,—The highest herd, 71 cows, averaged 345.'581b fat; the lowest herd, 51 cows, 176.581 b flat. The highest cow gave 620.751 b fat in 294 days., a,nd the lowest cow 115.301 b tat in 184 days. Turua, grout) of 24 herds, totalling 1019 cows.—The highest herd, 57 cows, averaged 309.241 b fat; the lowest herd, 66 cows, 168.401 b fat. The highest cow gave 493.151 b fat in 306' days, and the lowest 'coiw 106.751 b fat in 211 days. Waitakaruru, group of 24 herds, totalling 1000 cows,—The highest herd, 27 cows, averaged 308.971 b fat; the. lowest herd, 29 cows, averaged 132.651 b fat. The highest cow gave 458.331 b fat in 277 days, and the lowest cow 128.341 b fat in 182 days.
