GUN CLUB.

FORMATION IN PAEROA.

A meeting of those interested in the: formation of a gun club in Paeroa was held in Bain’s Rooms on Saturday evening last. Owing to many counter attractions a number of intending members sent apologies for non-attendance and wished the project success.

The meeting.decided to go ah wtih the formation of the club. Mr E. J. Aberhart was elected chairman, and gave an outline of the advantages of a gun club in the trict. To the younger shootists it would be' ai great benefit, and quite a number of experienced clay bind snots were now in the district.

Mr D. Leach supported the idea. He had assisted in forming a club in Karangahake some 18 years ago, md it had proved a ; great success, eventually producing a team equal to any other in the Dominion.

Mr Aberhart supplied infoijmation concerning the cost of trap's;, birds, etc., and suggested that affiliation with the N.Z. Gun Club Association Would be desirable.

Mr H. Hayr, an of the Auckland Club, also supported the formation of the club. In order to allow the-absent sportsmen to have- a voice in the formation the chairman suggested that provisional officers be appointed in the 1 meantime.

The meeting therefore appointed the fallowing to act pro tern :Cbmmittee-, Messrs C. C. Miller, D. Leach, E. J. Aberhart, L. Nevin, and Laird ; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. Nevin. The subscription was fixed at 7s fid per annum, to cover membership, affiliation with N.Z. Afesociation, and rule book.

All present joined up as members, and it was decided to! have the opening shoot as early as possible. The chairman and secretary were authorised to secure traps; etc., and Mr Leach was requested to inquire concerning a suitable site for the grounds.

The next meeting will be held in Bain’s rooms on Friday, 30th inst.. at 8 p.m.. when the formation of the club will be regularly effected

A vote of thanks to Mr W. Bain for his generous offer to allow the club the use of his rboms concluded the meeting.
