FREQUENT OCCURRENCES. COMPLAINTS FROM NGATEA. For three evenings in. the last five ®che Ngatea township has been without . electric light. During the storm bn Wednesday evening the power went off about 7.30 o’clock, and did not come on again until about 4 a.m. Jlbout 4.4'5 p.m. on Friday the lights - about'five hours, and last ' evening the power was. off for three hours. ... Users of current for lighting, heat;ing, and'cooking. now include practi- ? cally every householder. These people are'not concerned with the - causes, but with the effect, and they are loud in their complaints. The’fault on Friday evening, which > .incidentally deprived the numerous picture patrons of their evening’s enjoyment, was at a- high tension switch a few chains along the roadftrom the ... , Powter Board’s depot. Three horn's after the fa,ult occurred a start was made to replace the burned out switch .. with a new one. and /in two hours the. Sijfvice was - restored. ..The delay in /commencing repairs was; explained by the la,ck of a light to work by, bpd r.' r And it was not until, an outsider bffer- ; cd to get his motor spotlight that the idea of using the headlights of the board’s- lorry occurred- to .the repair ; > gang. ■ ■■ t . : • The fault, last evening was obviouSr ly a local one, as some'few houses rf-fn.ad lights. Just before .11 o’clock a *-car belonging to the board returned to Ngatea and proceeded to the fact tory transformer.. Within five minutes the necessary correction was made and the service resumed.
