POWER BOARD LOAN PROPOSAL. POLL ON WEDNESDAY NEXT. Tlje triennial elections. of. councilr lors to the county l , councils is to take place on Wednesday next, May-12. So far as the Ohinemuri 'County is concerned t,w*elve nominations have been received from the ridings for the nine sieiats on the council. Paeroa and Kaimanawa ridings are entitled to two members each, and' the Waihi, Ka.rangahake, Waitekauri, Waikino, and Marigaiti ridings .to one member each. Three persons have been nominated for the Paeroa riding, three for Kaimanawa, and two for Waikino. Messrs W. F. Johnstone and F. C. Hubbard are the sitting members for the Paeroa riding, and as Mr T. P. Vuglar has alsy been nominated an election will be necessary. For the Kaimanawa riding Messrs A. R. Robinson and R. R. Morrison are the fitting members, and ap election will be necessary, as Mr V. Young has also been nominated. In the Waikino riding an election will also- be held, as Mr S. H. Morgan, the sitting member, is being opposed by Mr C. Mason. Messrs A. D. McGuire (Karangahake), H. M. Corbett (Waitekauri), C. E. Mace (Mangaiti) a,nd Cl Hands (Waihi) have been returned - unopposed. • ■ . . - Messrs H. M. Corbett and W. Marshall have' been nominated for the seat as county representative, on the Thames Valley Electric Power Board. If will therefore be necessary to take a poll over the whole df the county to elect this representative. A poll of the ratepayers of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board will, be taken over the whole of the board’s area on the same day. .. The board is asking for authority to,raise a further loan of £150,000' to enable extensions to • the reticulation system to be carried out. The hours of polling will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
