When it *is taken into account that the gate takings were naturally handicapped by the Union having to hold matches on the, racecourse, it must be admitted that the net 'result is more than satisfactory. While- on ■this subject I must slay that our I hanks are due -to the cpns.ideratiqn of the Paeroa Golf Club and. also to the lOhineinitri Jockey Club for playing ground- facilities. As it is becoming a necessity that we should have our own playing field, application was made to the Paaroa Borough Council for an area in the Domain, and through the good offices of the Mayo.r, our president, we have procured two playing grounds from Council at a rental of £l2 10‘s, per annum, a condition being attached that entrance fee by the public was not to exceed the sum of one. shilling.
