i During tlie Easter holidays th® Paeroa bowling green presented an animated scene, the chief attraction being a pair's tournament which was commenced'on Good Friday and continued on Easter Monday. On Saturday afternoon the. Brenan Memorial Shield '‘competition was advanced a further stage, five rinks taking part. Wea.l weather prevailed and tlie green was) hi splendid playing condition.

Te.n pairs, took part in the pairs competition, and an interesting position has arisen. In all, nine games, ■were played. E." Edwards and F. Marsh, AV. J., Ellis and IV. McCullay, C. Holes and W. H. Taylor, Blackburne and -AV. J. Towers, each with six wins, have yet tq play off to find the winners. It is hoped to complete the competition on Saturday afternoon next. Following are tlie results in addition to .thosle, already ment'oned : AV. Robson and AV. Hamilton, 5 wins ; 1-1, Morland and G. H. Tay-lor,-4 wins; AV. Forrest and W. T. Power, 4 wins ; C.\ Mettam. and G. P. de Castro, 3 wins; L. Gibb and T. H. Hale, 3 wins; J. Brocket and L. Mason, 2 wins.
