FAREWELL SOCIAL.

ST. PAUL’S LADIES’ GUILD:, PRESENTATION TO MRS. BYRNE. A farewell social evening was tendered by St. Pau'l’s Ladies’, Guild in the Parish Hall last evening to Mrs W. J. Byrne. There was a large gathering of parishioners, and the proceedings took the form of a flag bridge evening and proved most successful.

After a delicious supper had been partaken of the Rev. F. B. Dobson made a few eulogistic remarks on the very capable manner in which Mrs Byrne had acted as secretary and treasurer to .the guild, and the great interest ishe had always taken in the social work of the church. The president, Mrs Barclay, also referred to the splendid work done by .the guest, and called upon the mother of the guild, Mrs Silcock, to make the presentation of a set of silver fish knives and forks.

In making the Mrs Silcock traversed the good work done by Mr's, Byrne, and said that the ladies, would mfes her very much indeed. She asked her to accept the gift as a small token of the esteem and love they held for her, and wished her health and prosperity in her new home.

Mr Towers, in the absence of M> Byrne, returned thanks.
