CAR OVERTURNS.
ROAD GIVES, WAY.
UCCUPANTS’ FORTUNATE ESCAPE.
On Sunday afternoon tnree occupants of a motor-car which was being driven from Paeroa. along the Tirohia road towards Te Aroha nayrowly escaped serious injuries. When the car, which was driven by Mr Crawford, was proceeding between Tirohia and Waitoki, where the road is very narrow, the driver drew well over to the side so as to permit an apTpoaching car to pass, and the bank gave way, with the result that the car w’as precipitated into a- gully 30ft below, turning over three times before coining to a standstill. The occupants were pinned underneath, and when released it wais found that they had escaped with head and ha.nd. abrasions and a good shaking. The car was badly, damaged. It is stated that the car going in the direction of Paeroa.’ did not stop.
