FOG IN NEW YORK.
CITY BLOTTED OUT. ALL TRAFFIC DISORGANISED. NEW YORK, January 6. New York is veiled by the densest and most lasting fog experienced for many years. Traffic, both on land and water, is delayed. The tops of the skyscrapers have been obscured for .three days. Street vehicles and the elevated railway system are slowed up. Many prinor motor-car accidents are reported.
Boats in the harbour and the rivers created a furious din whistling as they proceeded at reduced s,peed. Several liners were delayed in sailing. Electric lights are burning in al'i offices all day, while many workers living in the suburbs arrive late, due to the dislocated train service.
The mantle hung so heavily over Lower Manhattan that only half the Woolworth Building was, visible.
