HOLLAND AN ARCHIPELAGO.
FEARFUL PLIGHT OF DUTCH. ’ LONDON, January 6. . A special correspondent of the “Daily News,’’ flying by monoplane, reconnoitred Holland, the only method of ascertaining the extent of the floods. Instead of being a fertile country, Holland resembled an archipelago on tlie edge of the North Sea. Millions of acres are submerged, frequently to .a depth of 20ft. The correspondent watched tile villagers, fleeing. Boats are aground in gardens. A steamer is wedged in a cemetery. Windmills' look like lighthouses. Cataracts half a mile; in length are flowing from the broken dykes. The damage at Liege is estimated at £1,000,000. Marshal von Hindenburg, President of Germany, has, given £lO,OOO to relieve German flood victims.
