Porritt, E. Edwards, . J. W. Silcock, G. P. de Castro, F- E. Flatt H. J. Hare, Ji. Pinder, and the town clerk (Mr W. C. Alexander). STATUTORY HALF-HOLIDAY. Notice was received from the Labour Department requesting the council to fix a statutory half-holiday in - ; the borough for 192&. The matter was deferred until January, when a special meeting would be held. DEALER’S LICENSE. G. W. Brown, Daeroa, applied for ' a second-hand dealdr’s, license. Granted subject to .the usual conditions. : CROSSING REQUIRED S. J. Hedge wrote stating that he intended terracing the front of his '-- section facing Te Aroha Road, -and sought permission to place tlie spoil . removed on the roadside to form., an, approach. A request also made , , for a crossing, and the approach to be gravelled. < The request to remove the spoil was granted, as also was the appli- ' cation for a crossing subject to the usual conditions being fulfilled. . SEWERAGE CONNECTION. W FOrrest wrote in answer to in-. . structions to link up with the seWer- ~ age system, stating that his property . ; faced Puke Road, whereas the pipe line wats in the back street (Poland,, ;. Street), and to make a connection to . . his residence would necessitate 1 bring- < ing .the pipe line through a ,vacant section. As he had an excellent septic tank which had been in operation ■ for 25 yea >s he proposed to defer connecting up for the time, being. It was, resolved that an endeavour be made to have the work done-by,!?; day labour, and that the matter be .. left in the hands of the Mayor and Crs. Edwards and Brenan, with power to act. • TRUCKS AT WHARF. X A further communication was received from the Public Works Department offering to lease the six trucks at the„Ngahina wharf for a term ofC twelve months at £5 a year.—Referred to the Mayor and Cr- Silcock. WATER SUPPLY. < . The bacteriologist. Department of Public Health, forwarded a detailed analysis of the Paeroa water supply, and stated that the Water was in an- ■ ■. excellent state of purity. MUNICIPAL RESERVE. In .accordance with instructions t from the Lands and Survey’ Department a resolution was carried revdk- v ing the vesting of sections 1,2, 3,4, 14, 15. and 16, Block XVIL, town of : , Paeroa, in, trust for .municipal purposes in order that .the sections might be appropriated as an additional site .for the Paeroa District High. School. TRAFFIC BRIDGE. It was rseolved to meet a sub-com-mittee from the Ohinemuri County . Council in' conference on December 21 to discuss the erection and apportion; ment of the cost of a new traffic bridge over the Ohinemuri River at Paeroa, OVERHEAD BRIDGE. On .the motion of Cr. Edwards, seconded by Cr. de Castro, it was resolved that the member for the district * be waited on and asked to make fur- " ther representations to the Railway Department for the provision of an overfiead traffic bridge in Hill Street. APPRECIATION. Cr. Silcock moved that the council “ record its hearty/appreciation of the valuable services rendered by the ; Mayor in connection With the work f of preparing plans and specifications and other work incidental to the erection oh the municipal chaifibers. In seconding the motiopi Cr. de/' Castro said that His Worship .had: 1 done an enormous amount of work gratuitously, and had thereby saved - the ratepayers considerable expense. It was also decided to record the thanks and appreciation pf the effbirts of the Paeroa Orphans’ Club in assisting in raising funds for the purpose of purchasing a motor fire-reel. GREETINGS. : On behalf ,of the council the deputyMayor (Cr. E. Edwards) extended seasonal greetings to His Worship - 7 the Mayor and Mrs Marshall. The Mayor acknowledged the good wishes expressed, which he said he heartily reciprocated and extended to the town clerk .and council staff.
