MANAGERS REPORT.

At Tuesday's meeting of the Power Board the following report was presented by the manager (Mr R. Sprague):— Several applications have been received from quarries and flaxmills for power, and it is anticipated that these will be connected to the board’s main? in the next few weeks. The following is a statement of the income nad expenditure for the-ha 1 ! year ended September 30, 192'5 :'

Expenditure: Power purchases, £11,785 6s 5d ; interest and sinking fund, £19,500; administration and maintenance, £6039 17s ; balance, £BO6 6s- 6d ; total, £38,131 9s lid. Income: Flat rate—light, heating, and power—£2o,l47 13s ; water-heat-ers, £649 18s Id; ovens, £251 H’s. 4d; towns and meters, £9172 12s 6d ; street lighting, £482 9& ICd ; towns on bulk, £lB4l 17s 6d; factories on meters, £2085 Is 8d; sundries and trading, £3500’; total, £38,131 9s, lid.

From the above figures’ it will be seen that .there is a small credit balance for the half-year of £BO6 6s 6d.

Accident—On Sunday, September 27, an accident happened to Mr H. N. Thornton, employed by the board, while drying but at the Waitpa dried milk factory. There is ,a special report from the resident engineer, Mr McLeod, detailing s&me.

Consumers.—The total number of consumers connected to the board’s mains at September 3,0,; 1925, was 5264, which includes the boroughs, of Thames and Te Aroha. During the month 107 lighting and heating consumers, 61 water-heaters, and 4 electric ranges, together with 102 motors on farms, of which 97 were 2-h.p. milking motors, were connected. There were also two/2-h.p., two 3-h.p., one 10-h.p„ and one 25‘-h.p. motors connected on meter rates in towns. The total number of motors connected and running on farms is 1423, of which 1283 are 2-h.p. milking motors. The number of milking motors (97) connected during September has only been exceeded once during .the board’s, operations, and of these 67 are on already existing lines. Ample stocks of house wiring material are now to hand, and the delay caused through shortage of conduit in this department has now been overcome.

Charges.—Copies of the charges for electricity operating in other power board districts have now been received. These are being dissected, and will be brought before you at the next meeting.
