LOAN POLL APPROVED.
WAITAKARURU CANAL ROAD. A UNANIMOUS VERDICT. Ratepayers of a special rating area comprising the land near the Wai-takaruru-Maukoro canal unanimously sanctioned a loan of £lo'oo for the metalling of their road at a poll taken on Wednesday. Eighteen votes were cast in favour of the proposal and none against. The loan is to provide the settlers’ share of the £4500 required to metal a portion of the road. The Public Works, Department will contribute £2OOO and the Lands Drainage Department £l5OO. The rate on the settlers will be l%d in the £.
