Mr Mules said the work wae estimated to cost £5O, Up to the present the board and the Government had paid the maintenance on a half share basis, but he w.as of opinion that the time had come when the board should take a stand and insist oii paying according to the amount of benefit. This drain was of greater benefit to the Horahia area than to the Hauraki area. It was decided, on Mr Baker’s, motion, seconded by Mr McMillan, that in the board’s opinion one-third of the cost was a fair contribution towards the work of laying back .and timbering. RATES. After fully discussing the matter, the board decided that the general rates for the cun-ent year be the same as last year.
